BASF and Fundação Eco+ have changes in the executive body

From August 1st, Rafael Viñas assumes the newly created position of Business Project Manager in the Chemicals and Performance Products area. In this new position, Rafael will be responsible for evaluating and implementing circular economy solutions with potential partners for the supply of circular raw materials in line with BASF's business sustainability strategy.

With a degree and master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), Rafael had been at Fundação Eco+ for 10 years, the last four years as manager. Fundação Eco+ is a consultancy and research center for sustainability, maintained by BASF for 18 years, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP).

In his work at the Eco+ Foundation, Rafael carried out important projects such as the management of reciChain, established new strategic partnerships such as with AgroSmart and achieved positive results in collaboration with several clients and partners committed to best environmental and social practices in different sectors of the economy. “I see this new challenge with enthusiasm and I believe that facilitating new businesses for the Circular Economy will be the continuation of a professional path. I feel privileged to have been part of this journey at the Eco+ Foundation and will continue to support it in other ways, such as the coordination of strategic interactions between BASF partners for biofuels, chemical and mechanical recycling”, shares Viñas.

On the same date, Tiago Egydio Barreto will take over the management of Fundação Eco+, graduated in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), with a postgraduate degree in Environmental Adequacy of rural properties from USP and a master's degree and doctorate in Plant Biology from the State University from Campinas (Unicamp), he joined Fundação Eco + in 2014, occupying the position of Coordinator since 2020. Tiago brings with him a solid background in sustainability consultancy and a deep understanding of the environmental, social and economic issues affecting businesses today, such as regenerative practices such as environmental conservation. His appointment reflects Fundação Eco+'s continued commitment to offering innovative and sustainable solutions to our customers.

During his career at the institution, the professional led major projects such as Mata Viva®, a compensation program that planted 10,000 tree seedlings last year; the NASC (Núcleo Ambiental Água Santa do Cerrado), an environmental education project; and the Suvinil Reserve, a stretch of Atlantic Forest corresponding to 30 football fields, in the BASF manufacturing complex in São Bernardo do Campo.
